DAVIS, Calif. - UC Davis women's gymnastics signed three prospective student-athletes during the November 2007 signing period, it was announced by head coach John Lavallee. Alphabetically, the prospects are Betsy Lim of Shoreview, Minn., Jennifer Mueller of Fremont, Calif., and Erika Van Dyke of Sacramento, Calif.
All three are expected to enroll at UC Davis in the fall of 2008.
Lim, a senior at Mounds View High School and member of Midwest Gymnastics Center in Arden Hills, Minn., represents the second straight year that UC Davis has signed an out-of-state prospect. She finished third on floor exercise at the Level 10 state meet, then tied for third on vault at the Region 4 championships in 2006.
Mueller is currently a senior at Mission San Jose High School in Fremont, Calif. She has competed at Level 10 for Bay Aerials Gymnastics for the past two years after winning the Level 9 all-around at the state meet in 2005. Mueller advanced to the Region 1 championships in 2006, then last year placed third in the all-around and tied for first on floor at the state championships.
Van Dyke, a senior from South Sutter Charter School in Sacramento, Calif., was a Level 10 Nationals qualifier for Deltchev Gymnastics in 2006. She placed ninth on balance beam at the national meet after capturing the beam title and a fourth-place all-around finish at the Region 1 meet. In 2007, Van Dyke won the bronze medal on floor exercise at the Region 1 championships, earning her a spot as first alternate for the national meet. Academically, she holds a grade-point average of better than 4.0 while serving as Student Council Secretary.
UC Davis, a member of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation, begins its 2008 season on January 11 with a home triangular with Cal and Towson.
